Important Information
The Park County Solid Waste Division’s business office starting August 31st will temporarily be moved to the old Game and Fish building at 2820 Hwy 120 in the red modulars on the north side of the building until further notice. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
Construction Projects and Equipment/Materials/Services Procurement
Park County observes the following holidays for County employees. Special accommodations will be arranged with municipally operated and commercial collection services to manage those collection routes that are serviced on certain holidays. Otherwise, all Park County landfills are closed to the public on the dates listed below:

The Powell and Clark Landfills were reverted to “Dry” or unlined Construction/Demolition (C&D) sites on September 18, 2012. Household wastes will no longer be accepted at either site.

The Park County Regional Landfill in Cody and the Powell Landfill both utilize a certified set of scales to weigh each delivery and the charge is based on this weight. The landfill located in Clark will not have scales and is still basing the charge on volume.below

Hazardous Waste
It is unlawful to dispose any liquid, chemical or regulated hazardous material at a municipal landfill.
Special wastes such as Asbestos, Paint, Oil, Batteries, Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, or other hazardous materials require special handling. Please contact the Landfill Gate Attendants BEFORE delivering these items to a landfill.
Petroleum Contaminated Soil (PCS) is accepted at the Cody Landfill only. Fees are based on $20/ton with a minimum charge of $400. Prior approval with an Agreement for Proper Analytical Testing is Required. Contact the Landfill Office for proper procedures.
For continued protection of our landfills, random load inspections are also required by our governing agencies. The US Environmental Protection Agency, E.P.A., R.C.R.A Sub Title “D” Procedures for excluding hazardous waste, regulatory overview (40 CFR, Part 258.20) requires these inspection and documentations of incoming loads to detect hazardous or PCB Waste.
