PLAN PARK COUNTY

In February 2022, Park County launched the first major update of its Land Use Plan since 1998. The process—called Plan Park County—provided an opportunity for all Park County residents, business and property owners, and other community stakeholders to help shape Park County’s future. The updated Land Use Plan established an overarching vision and goals for Park County, as well as the policy foundation that will guide where and how Park County grows in the future—generally, as well as within individual Planning Areas. The County will now implement land use guidance established during the Land Use Plan development process through subsequent updates to the County’s Development Regulations. 

We will continue to “Plan Park County” during a two-part regulations amendment process. Part I will involve primarily administrative changes to the document (updates related to statutory changes, administrative procedures, appendices clean-up, and key problem areas identified by staff, the P&Z Commission, and Board of Commissioners in recent years). Part II will focus primarily on zoning and uses, the real meat of the document. Each part of the process will include opportunities for public involvement and input.
