How to vote early or by absentee ballot

In addition to having the option of voting at the polls on Election Day, residents can choose to instead vote early at the Park County Courthouse in Cody or by absentee ballot.

Absentee ballots are *not* automatically mailed to voters. You must make a new request for absentee ballots every election cycle.

Early voting

Park County Elections Office interior
Starting 28 days ahead of the primary and general elections, all county residents can cast their ballot in the Elections Office, which is operated just like a polling place. Wyoming’s new voter ID law applies to early voting.

The office is located on the main floor of the Park County Courthouse addition (1002 Sheridan Ave. in Cody), attached to the clerk’s office and next door to the treasurer’s office.

Early voting will run from July 17 to Aug. 19 for the 2024 Primary Election and Oct. 8 to Nov. 4 for the General Election.

Absentee voting

Voters also have the option of requesting absentee ballots.

Absentee ballots can be picked up at the Elections Office or mailed to voters starting 28 days ahead of the election through 5 p.m. on the day before the election.

If a Park County voter’s registration is active and up-to-date, they can apply for an absentee ballot in person at the courthouse, by mailing this form to the Elections Office (1002 Sheridan Ave., Cody, WY 82414), by emailing the form to voterinfo@parkcounty-wy.gov or by calling 307-527-8620. Be sure to fill out all of the required information and remember that changing your registration requires showing ID.

Completed ballots can be mailed back or hand-delivered to our office during business hours. Absentee ballots are only accepted at the courthouse and cannot be delivered to another polling place.

For your vote to count, remember to sign the ballot envelope where it reads “Signature of Elector”. Also, make sure your absentee ballot arrives at the Elections Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day. It does not matter when a ballot is postmarked; it must be in the office by the time the polls close in order to be counted.
